In every state, there are various state benefits that qualified individuals are entitled to receive. These benefits may be in different forms like benefits for children, education, among others.

California, like other states, protects the people in the area by providing them necessary benefits that will be a great help during their time of need. The following are the sample benefits that are offered in the state of California:

California Unemployment Insurance

Unemployment Insurance benefits give momentary financial help to unemployed workers.

Program Requirements:
Unemployed workers who are applying for this program must posses the following requirements including:

• you must have earned at least the minimum amount o wages that are provided in your guideline

• you must be capable and available of working each week that you are claiming the benefit

• you must have worked or have been employed for the past 12 to 18 months

California Medicaid

California's Medicaid health program which is called Medi-Cal, pays for different medical services for adults and children who have limited resources and income. This program is supported by both state and Federal taxes.

Program Requirements:

Adults and children who are applying for this program must posses the following requirements including:

• you must be a U.S permanent resident, national, legal alien, or citizen, in need of health insurance/care assistance, who have a low or very low income financial situation.

• you must be either pregnant , blind, have a disability yourself, someone in your family has a disability, or responsible for children below 19 years old, or be 65 years old or older.

• you must be a resident of the State of California

California CalWORKS

CalWORKS is a welfare program that provides services and cash aid to eligible California families who are in need. This program provides help in all 58 counties in California. It is implemented locally by various county welfare departments. If a family has no cash or limited cash and have needs for food, clothing, housing, utilities, or medical care, it may be eligible to acquire immediate temporary help.

Program Requirements:

For you to be able to acquire the benefits offered by this program you must possess the requirements including:

• you must be either a U.S. national, legal alien, citizen, or permanent resident who have very low income and be either under-employed, about to become unemployed or unemployed

• you must be either responsible for a child under 19 years old or pregnant

• you must be a resident of the State of California

California Head Start

Head Start is a national program that is governed by the Head Start Bureau within the Administration on Children, Youth and Families, Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS), and Administration for Children and Families (ACF). It gives broad developmental services for low-income children from birth to entry in elementary school.

In addition, Head Start is a direct Federal-to-local program implemented by more than 1,500 locally based private or public organizations in the country.

Program Requirements:

For you to be able to acquire the benefits offered by this program, you must possess the following requirements including:

• you must be a primary caregiver or a parent responsible for a child who is too young to acquire public schooling

• your household annual income before taxes should not exceed $10,4000, in the case that you have one person in the household

• you must be a resident citizen of the State of California

Aside from the state benefits mentioned including California Head Start, CalWORKS, Medicaid, and Unemployment Insurance, citizens in California may receive a variety of benefits like retirement, disability benefits, among others, if certain requirements are met.
